The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) achieved a record recovery of Rs. 6.213 trillion in 2025, the highest in the bureau’s history, NAB Chairman Lt. Gen. (retd) Nazir Ahmed reported to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The chairman presented the annual performance report at the Prime Minister’s House, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also in attendance.

The prime minister praised NAB’s use of modern tools, including AI-assisted investigations and an e-office framework, noting that these initiatives support government goals of efficiency, austerity, and transparency. He reaffirmed full backing for NAB’s professional independence and its role in safeguarding national resources.

NAB’s recoveries included 2.98 million acres of state and forest land valued at around Rs. 5.99 trillion. Additionally, Rs. 180 billion was returned to 115,587 victims of fraudulent housing and investment schemes, restoring public confidence in state institutions. Programs such as NAB Open Court and the Central Complaint Cell have strengthened public engagement, positioning the bureau as a platform for grievance redressal while promoting transparency and accountability.
