Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled a transformative development agenda for Murree, aiming to modernize the hill station with improved infrastructure and sustainable transportation. As part of this initiative, a Green Line bus service is being introduced with an initial fleet of 15 buses. This service is designed to offer free travel to students, women, and senior citizens, promoting accessibility and ease of movement for both locals and tourists. To further reduce traffic congestion and environmental strain caused by private vehicles, a train service to Murree is also being planned, enhancing connectivity while supporting eco-friendly travel.

The development plan extends beyond transportation, reflecting a broader commitment to public health, education, and local infrastructure. The Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Centre in Murree has already commenced angiography procedures and is preparing to offer full cardiac surgeries, significantly expanding medical access in the region. In addition, a new hospital is scheduled for construction in Bhurban to cater to the growing healthcare needs of the area.

Investment in education and basic services is also a priority, with school upgrades, a large-scale water supply project, and sanitation improvements underway. To streamline governance and improve service delivery, Murree has been granted the status of a separate district, complete with its own police, health, and education departments.

In a bid to position Murree as a premier travel destination, a specialized tourism force has been formed to ensure a safe, well-managed experience for visitors. These comprehensive efforts signal a major shift towards sustainable tourism, modern amenities, and elevated standards of living for residents and travelers alike.
