The Pakistan Airports Authority has announced plans to acquire bird repellent systems to improve aviation safety and prevent incidents involving birds striking aircraft. These systems are expected to be installed at major airports, including Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Faisalabad, and Multan. Officials confirmed that the initiative is under consideration and currently undergoing trials at one of Pakistan’s major airports. Bird strikes pose a serious threat to aviation safety, as they can damage aircraft engines and fuselages during takeoff and landing. In recent years, multiple airports across Pakistan have reported bird strike incidents, prompting authorities to explore preventive technologies to protect passengers and aircraft. One notable incident occurred in December of last year when a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Lahore encountered a bird strike just outside Lahore Airport. The pilot promptly reported the incident to the Pakistan Airports Authority, and fortunately, no injuries were sustained. The implementation of bird repellent systems aims to reduce the risk of similar events in the future and strengthen overall airport safety. Go back |
