The Punjab government has distributed free SIM cards to 2.4 million BISP beneficiaries in 2026 to promote digital financial inclusion. This initiative allows eligible families, especially women, to receive their Rs. 13,500 installment directly on their mobile phones, eliminating long waits at distribution points.

The program provides multiple benefits: payments are transferred directly into the digital wallet, no intermediaries are involved, transactions are secure, and real-time SMS alerts notify beneficiaries when funds are credited. With a nationwide target of 10 million SIMs, the scheme aims to make government welfare programs more efficient and transparent.

Eligible beneficiaries can obtain a free SIM by verifying their CNIC via SMS to 8171 or the 8171 web portal, visiting the nearest distribution center, and completing biometric verification. No fees are required for receiving the SIM. Once activated, the digital wallet enables instant access to funds, withdrawals through ATMs or authorized agents, and greater financial control for beneficiaries.

To ensure security, users are advised to keep their PIN and OTP private, avoid scams, and report any fraudulent activity to the BISP helpline at 0800-26477. This initiative enhances convenience, security, and financial empowerment for millions of BISP recipients in Punjab.
