The process to designate Peshawar and New York as sister cities has moved forward after the New York City Mayor’s Office shared a draft agreement with the Governor House. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the development, calling it a constructive step toward greater international cooperation. He said the initiative is being viewed by the New York City Mayor’s Office as a way to strengthen people-to-people connections between Pakistan and the United States. Under the proposed sister city framework, Peshawar and New York would collaborate across multiple sectors, including education, economic development, youth skills training, science and technology, cultural exchange, and official delegations and visits. The governor said the partnership could play an important role in improving Peshawar’s international profile while creating new educational, technical, and employment opportunities for young people. He added that the agreement is aimed at expanding the city’s links with global urban centers and modern economic sectors. Go back |
