PMD Forecasts Rain in Karachi Today, Advises Caution for Residents

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate rain in Karachi starting this evening, with showers expected to continue intermittently into tomorrow. Westerly winds may bring dusty conditions to the city, while rising humidity has created a light haze. Currently, atmospheric humidity is around 86 percent, with gentle northeast winds.

Rainfall is also predicted in several districts of Balochistan, including Nokundi, Dalbandin, Nushki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Mastung, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Khuzdar, Kech, Panjgur, Gwadar, Awaran, Pasni, Ormara, and Lasbela. Most other parts of the country are expected to experience cold and dry weather over the next twelve hours, though Balochistan, lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Thal desert may see rain accompanied by winds and thunderstorms during the evening and night.

Morning temperatures in major cities included Islamabad at 9°C, Lahore 14°C, Karachi 22°C, Peshawar 11°C, Quetta 5°C, Gilgit 6°C, Murree 4°C, and Muzaffarabad 8°C. In Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla are expected to experience partly cloudy and very cold conditions, while Jammu remains cold and dry. Recorded temperatures this morning were Srinagar 1°C, Jammu 11°C, Leh -9°C, Pulwama and Shopian -1°C, and Anantnag and Baramulla at 0°C.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for rainfall in southern districts today and tomorrow. Authorities have been advised to remain prepared to restore road links in case landslides or closures occur. PDMA’s control room remains operational 24/7, and the public can contact 1700 for emergencies.
