The Government of Punjab has approved a revised transport policy for senior civil servants, introducing higher engine capacity vehicles and enhanced monthly fuel allowances for top bureaucrats across the province. The updated official vehicle policy significantly expands transport entitlements compared to the previous framework, reflecting a major shift in administrative transport rules.

Under the new notification, the Chief Secretary Punjab and the Inspector General of Police Punjab are permitted to retain three official vehicles with engine capacities of 2800cc, 1800cc, and 4700cc. They are entitled to 800 liters of petrol per month for two of these vehicles, while no fuel limit has been specified for the 4700cc vehicle. Previously, the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary were allowed 1300cc and 1600cc vehicles with a monthly fuel cap of 200 liters, and there was no fuel restriction during official tours.

The revised policy also updates transport facilities for Grade 20 to 22 officers. Secretaries in these grades may now use two vehicles with engine capacities of 2800cc and 1800cc. Officers in Grade 21 and 22 will receive 200 liters of petrol per month for personal use, while fuel for official duties will remain uncapped. Earlier, administrative secretaries were limited to a 1300cc vehicle with a monthly fuel allowance of 200 liters.

For Grade 19 and 20 Special Secretaries and Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), the new entitlement includes a 1600cc vehicle with 250 liters of petrol per month, compared to the previous allowance of 1000cc to 1300cc vehicles and 175 liters of fuel. Grade 19 Additional Secretaries will now receive 200 liters of petrol monthly with a 1600cc vehicle, an increase from the earlier 175-liter cap.

Grade 18 Deputy Secretaries are entitled to a 1500cc vehicle with 175 liters of petrol per month, replacing the earlier provision of a 1000cc vehicle and 150 liters of fuel. Staff Officers and Section Officers serving the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary will use 1300cc vehicles with 150 liters of petrol per month, while Staff Officers of provincial ministers will receive 1300cc vehicles with 125 liters of monthly fuel.

The revised Punjab transport policy increases both engine capacity limits and fuel entitlements for multiple officer categories, marking a substantial expansion in official vehicle privileges within the provincial bureaucracy.
