Punjab Digitizes Toll Plazas Under CM Maryam Nawaz’s “One App, One System” InitiativeToday, 06:02. Posted by: taiba |
Punjab is making a major stride toward modernization by fully digitizing its toll collection system, eliminating paper-based tolls across the province. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the “One App, One System” initiative is being rolled out at 38 toll plazas to enhance convenience, transparency, and efficiency for travelers. The shift to a digital tolling system is aimed at reducing traffic congestion, minimizing human error, and improving accountability. In addition to toll digitization, Punjab is prioritizing infrastructure development through public-private partnerships. Five major road projects will be built, repaired, and maintained under these partnerships, ensuring higher efficiency and cost-effectiveness without overburdening public resources. The province has already seen substantial savings through e-tendering, with PKR 40 billion saved so far. Furthermore, the upcoming road projects will incorporate solar-powered street lighting, promoting energy conservation and reducing the environmental footprint. These developments mark a significant push toward smart urban planning and sustainable development, signaling Punjab’s commitment to building a modern, eco-friendly, and transparent governance model.
