Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has set a firm 60-day deadline for the completion of all delayed and near-finished development projects across the city, warning that any further delays will result in cancellations, financial penalties, and disciplinary action against responsible officials. The directive was issued following a detailed progress review meeting at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Head Office, where ongoing work on 637 city projects was evaluated.
To accelerate progress, the mayor has established Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) tasked with addressing urgent road repairs, drainage issues, and other critical infrastructure improvements. These teams will operate across key areas to ensure that pending projects are completed efficiently and within the given timeframe.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work, Murtaza Wahab emphasized the need for greater accountability and performance within KMC departments. He stated that Karachi’s residents deserve timely, high-quality development, and warned that negligence or inefficiency will no longer be tolerated.
The mayor reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure, restoring public confidence, and ensuring that ongoing projects directly benefit the citizens of Karachi.
