The Karachi Traffic Police have officially launched the new e-challan system, marking a major step toward digital traffic enforcement and improved road safety in the city. Within just six hours of implementation, authorities collected over 12.5 million PKR in fines through the system.

According to officials, a total of 2,662 e-challans were issued for various traffic violations, including 419 cases of overspeeding, 1,535 for not wearing seat belts, 166 for red-light jumping, and 507 for riding without helmets. Additional violations included wrong-way driving, illegal parking, and using mobile phones while driving.

The Karachi Traffic Police described the initiative as a significant move toward modernizing traffic management through real-time digital monitoring and automated fine collection. The e-challan system allows for efficient tracking of offenses, helping authorities identify repeat violators and encourage responsible driving habits.

Officials emphasized that public cooperation is crucial for the success of the system, urging citizens to follow traffic rules and contribute to a safer driving environment. The department noted that the system’s rollout will enhance transparency, reduce manual errors, and strengthen overall traffic discipline across Karachi.
