The Embassy of Russia in Pakistan has officially denied the authenticity of a viral video circulating on social media that falsely depicts President Vladimir Putin issuing threats against Pakistan amid recent tensions with Afghanistan. The embassy confirmed that the video, widely shared by pro-Afghan and Indian accounts on X (formerly Twitter), is entirely fabricated and intended to spread misinformation.

In a formal statement, the Russian Embassy clarified that the doctored footage misrepresents President Putin’s actual remarks. The original video, according to the embassy, was taken from his interaction with journalists following a meeting of the Russian Geographical Society’s Board of Trustees on October 23, 2025. During that session, Putin made no mention of Pakistan, Afghanistan, or any regional conflict.

Calling the video “100% fake,” the embassy condemned the deliberate manipulation of content aimed at fueling tensions and misleading the public. It reaffirmed that Russia continues to advocate for the peaceful resolution of regional issues through constructive dialogue. Moscow, the statement added, maintains friendly and cooperative relations with both Pakistan and Afghanistan and remains committed to promoting stability and mutual understanding in the region.
