The night sky is set to shine brighter than usual as the second and brightest supermoon of 2025, known as the “Super Beaver Moon,” will illuminate the skies on November 5. Astronomers confirm that this extraordinary lunar event will be visible not only in Pakistan but also across most regions of the world, offering a stunning view for skywatchers and photographers alike. During this phase, the moon will reach its closest point to Earth—approximately 221,817 miles away—making it about 2,800 miles nearer than October’s supermoon. Because of this shorter distance, experts predict that the Super Beaver Moon will appear nearly 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than an average full moon, creating a spectacular visual experience. The name “Beaver Moon” comes from Native American and early colonial traditions, marking the time when beavers build their dams before winter. In astronomical terms, a supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with the moon’s perigee—the point where it is closest to Earth in its orbit. Sky enthusiasts are encouraged to look up on November 5, as clear weather conditions will make for the best viewing experience. According to the astronomical calendar, 2025 will feature one more supermoon after this event, scheduled for December 5, marking the third and final supermoon of the year. Go back |
