KP CM Sohail Afridi Ends Interest-Based Practices in Government Investments, Promises Riba-Free System and Anti-Corruption Measures

Sohail Afridi, leading a cabinet meeting in Peshawar, announced the termination of interest-based practices in all Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government investments, signaling a shift toward a riba-free financial system. He outlined new policy priorities, emphasizing strict adherence to merit, updated legislation, and zero tolerance for corruption.

Afridi expressed gratitude to political parties for participating in the peace jirga and reaffirmed full implementation of assembly resolutions. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to ending the Action in Aid of Civil Power law and announced that an inquiry commission will be set up to investigate the May 9 Radio Pakistan incident.

The Chief Minister’s announcements reflect a broader agenda of transparency, financial reform, and institutional accountability aimed at strengthening governance in the province.
