In a landmark step toward Pakistan’s digital transformation, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Islamabad, in collaboration with Zindigi powered by JS Bank, has launched the country’s first-ever Cashless Bazaar at H-9 Sunday Market. This initiative is aligned with the Prime Minister’s and State Bank of Pakistan’s vision for a cashless economy, aiming to modernize payments, enhance convenience, and promote financial inclusion.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Muhammad Ali Randhawa, CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad; Noman Azhar, Chief Officer Zindigi; Dr. Anam Fatima, Chief Metropolitan Corporation (MCI) Islamabad; Tahir Naeem, Member Finance CDA; Adnan Imran, Chief Manager SBP Islamabad; and Mohsin Khan, Head of Merchants & Retail Sales, along with other representatives from relevant organizations.
The Cashless Bazaar enables customers and merchants to conduct instant, seamless digital transactions through Zindigi P2M merchants’ Raast QR codes, accessible via any banking application. This platform allows vendors to receive payments securely and efficiently, eliminating the need for cash handling while offering shoppers a safe, convenient, and modern shopping experience.
Officials highlighted that the launch of the Cashless Bazaar is a critical milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward a digital economy. It not only strengthens financial inclusion by bringing more citizens into the formal banking ecosystem but also encourages merchants to adopt digital payment solutions, boosting transparency and efficiency in trade. The initiative is expected to serve as a model for other markets nationwide, demonstrating the benefits of integrating digital payments into everyday commerce and supporting the broader agenda of Pakistan’s financial modernization.
