The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched a strict crackdown on polluting vehicles, announcing that all cars and motorcycles without valid green stickers will be seized starting November 15. This move is part of a broader anti-pollution campaign across the province aimed at reducing harmful emissions and improving air quality.
Director General of EPA Punjab, Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, emphasized that emission testing has now become mandatory for all vehicles in Lahore. Authorities have already begun monitoring the roads, taking action against vehicles that produce excessive smoke or noise, which are major contributors to urban pollution.
Dr. Sheikh warned vehicle owners that any vehicle operating without a valid Emission Testing System (ETS) certificate or green sticker after November 15 will be impounded. The policy applies to both personal and commercial vehicles, signaling a zero-tolerance approach toward environmental non-compliance.
The agency is implementing strict enforcement measures to ensure only vehicles meeting Punjab’s environmental standards remain on the roads. Officials will also pursue legal action against owners of non-compliant or unverified vehicles, reinforcing the province’s commitment to tackling air pollution. Dr. Sheikh highlighted that this campaign represents the strictest anti-pollution effort in Lahore to date, reflecting the urgency of controlling emissions for public health and environmental protection.
Vehicle owners are being urged to get their emission tests completed and obtain green stickers promptly to avoid fines, seizure, or other penalties. The EPA’s initiative is expected to improve air quality, reduce health risks associated with vehicular pollution, and set a benchmark for environmental compliance across Pakistan.
