Applications are now open for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2026/27, offering fully funded Master’s degree opportunities in the United Kingdom for talented students from developing Commonwealth countries. This prestigious scholarship program covers both tuition fees and living expenses for a 12-month Master’s program starting in September or October 2026.

The scholarships are aimed at students from least developed and middle-income Commonwealth nations who would otherwise be unable to afford postgraduate studies in the UK. There is no application fee, making it accessible to deserving candidates. The deadline for applications is December 9, 2025, at 16:00 GMT.

Eligible candidates must be citizens or refugees from one of the 45 Commonwealth countries, including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and several others. Applicants must hold at least an upper second-class degree (2:1) or a lower second-class degree with a Master’s, and they must not have studied or worked in a high-income country for more than one year. Distance learning from a high-income country while residing in the home country is permitted.

The scholarship supports a wide range of Master’s programs, including development studies, health, education, engineering, agriculture, and social sciences. Successful candidates will receive full financial support covering tuition fees, living costs, and other essential expenses for the duration of their studies.

The application process involves three steps. First, candidates select an approved course at a participating UK university and secure admission. Next, they submit their scholarship application online through the CSC Central system, ensuring all required documents are uploaded, including proof of citizenship, academic transcripts, and two reference letters. Only online submissions are accepted, and incomplete applications will be deemed ineligible.

The selection process begins with universities reviewing applications and nominating candidates to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, which will announce final approvals in March 2026.

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarships provide a transformative opportunity for students from developing nations to gain world-class education in the UK, build professional networks, and contribute to the development of their home countries. Candidates are encouraged to apply early to avoid technical issues and ensure compliance with all requirements.
