Doha has officially recognized the Fellowships awarded by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), providing a major boost for Pakistani doctors and surgeons seeking medical licensing and employment in Qatar. The Pakistani Embassy in Qatar announced that both the First and Second Fellowships of CPSP have been approved, with the Second Fellowship requiring completion of the corresponding First Fellowship in the doctor’s primary specialty.

This recognition came after Qatar conducted a detailed review of CPSP’s educational standards, training programs, and professional competencies. As a result, CPSP fellows are now exempt from the Prometric licensing exam in Qatar, which significantly speeds up the process of obtaining medical licenses and reduces administrative hurdles for experienced Pakistani medical professionals.

Officials emphasized that this decision will expand career opportunities for Pakistani doctors and surgeons in Qatar, allowing them to practice more easily and access a wider range of employment options. The recognition also highlights the quality and credibility of CPSP’s training programs, reinforcing Pakistan’s reputation in medical education and professional standards.

This development is part of broader diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Qatar. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar held a separate call with Qatar’s Minister of State Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi to discuss bilateral cooperation, mutual interests, and ongoing regional and global developments. According to the Foreign Office, these discussions reflect ongoing collaboration and shared priorities in strengthening Pakistan-Qatar relations.

Overall, the CPSP Fellowship recognition in Qatar marks a significant milestone in medical cooperation, providing Pakistani doctors with streamlined access to the Gulf job market while underscoring the international credibility of Pakistan’s medical training programs.
