The Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship 2027 in Germany is accepting applications from international scholars and professionals who are passionate about advancing peacebuilding through education. This fully funded program, organized by the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media – Georg Eckert Institute (GEI), offers a six-month research stay in Brunswick, Germany, where fellows can work on projects or conduct research focused on peace education, educational media, and curriculum development in post-conflict and transitional societies.

The fellowship provides an opportunity for participants to bridge the gap between theory and practice by transforming academic research into actionable strategies and policy recommendations. It encourages collaboration among international educators, researchers, and practitioners who aim to make meaningful contributions to sustainable peace through education.

This fully funded fellowship in Europe covers all major expenses, including a monthly stipend of €3,300 for six months, round-trip economy airfare to and from Germany, and administrative as well as publication support from the GEI coordinators. Fellows will gain access to extensive academic resources and the institute’s research facilities, enabling them to focus entirely on their projects without financial or logistical concerns.

The Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship is open to applicants from disciplines such as humanities, education, social sciences, political science, or law. Professionals from journalism, public policy, or nonprofit organizations who have experience in peace education are also eligible to apply. Applicants must have at least five years of professional experience in a relevant field and demonstrate strong academic or practical achievements that show measurable impact. During the fellowship, participants are expected to conduct research or develop educational initiatives that promote sustainable peace. They must also participate in academic activities at the Leibniz Institute, contribute to the organization of the annual Georg Arnhold conference, and present their findings at the GEI’s internal colloquium. Fellows are required to publish the outcomes of their research within one year of completing the program.

Applicants must be responsible for their own travel documents, visa, and health insurance. The program aims to support individuals who can offer innovative solutions and perspectives in the field of peace education and help develop educational strategies that encourage tolerance, social cohesion, and reconciliation.

The application process for the Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship 2027 includes five main steps. Candidates must first submit an online application form with a project summary of up to 1,000 words according to the provided guidelines. The Leibniz Institute will review and shortlist up to ten candidates. From this pool, three applicants will be selected for final consideration and asked to submit a detailed project proposal of up to 25 pages, along with their CV, publication list, and proof of project impact. The final selection will be made after online interviews with the shortlisted candidates.

The deadline to apply for the Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship 2027 in Germany is November 14, 2025. This program is an excellent opportunity for scholars and practitioners to contribute to the global peace education movement, enhance their research impact, and collaborate with leading experts in the field. By combining research, policy development, and international cooperation, the fellowship plays a key role in promoting education for sustainable peace and social transformation.
