The Pakistan Super League is set to enter a new era with season 11 scheduled to be played under a revamped competition format following the expansion of the tournament to eight teams, according to reports. PSL 11 will run from March 26 to May 3, 2026, featuring a total of 44 matches over a 39-day window, marking one of the most ambitious editions of the league to date.

To accommodate the addition of two new teams without significantly extending the duration of the tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board has redesigned the structure, moving away from the traditional double round-robin league format. The new model will allow for competitive balance while keeping the tournament compact and commercially viable.

Under the revised format, the opening phase will be played on a single-league basis, where each of the eight teams will face every other team once. This initial stage is designed to ensure fairness, with all sides competing under the same conditions before the league progresses further. Performances in this phase will determine standings heading into the second round of the competition.

The second phase will follow a Super Four-style format, with the eight teams divided into two groups of four based on their rankings. Each team will play three matches within its group, producing a total of 12 matches in this stage. Results from the Super Four phase will play a decisive role in shaping the final points table and determining qualification for the playoffs.

Following the completion of the two league phases, the top teams will advance to the knockout stage. As in previous editions, four playoff matches will be held, including the final, to decide the PSL 11 champions. Despite the changes to the format and the increase in participating teams, each franchise will still be guaranteed a minimum of 10 matches, ensuring consistency with earlier seasons and maintaining competitive parity.

Matches in PSL 11 will be hosted across major cricketing venues in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan. In addition, Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad is set to host PSL matches for the first time, marking a significant expansion of the league’s footprint and bringing top-tier T20 cricket to a new city.

The expanded format and inclusion of new venues reflect the PSL’s continued growth and its ambition to strengthen fan engagement, commercial appeal, and player opportunities ahead of future international commitments.
