ISLAMABAD: The window for submitting bids for the new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises has officially closed, with multiple high-profile players from diverse sectors vying for ownership rights.

Solar energy company Inverex has publicly confirmed that it has formally submitted a bid, becoming the first organization to go on record expressing interest in the PSL expansion.

Sources familiar with the bidding process indicate that other contenders include a telecom company, a real estate group, and one of the PCB’s existing sponsors, highlighting strong corporate appetite for PSL franchise ownership across multiple industries.

Among the most prominent names linked to the new teams is US-based Pakistani businessman Aamir Waien, founder and owner of payments technology firm i2c. Waien has reportedly emerged as a serious contender, with a personal net worth exceeding $150 million, making him one of the financially strongest bidders in the race.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to complete its evaluation of the bids and officially announce the new franchises on 8 January 2026, expanding the PSL roster ahead of future editions of the league.

With interest spanning sectors such as energy, telecom, real estate, and fintech, the addition of new franchises is anticipated to bring fresh investment, enhanced competition, and greater fan engagement to Pakistan’s premier T20 cricket league.
