Former Pakistan cricket captain Mohammad Yousaf has expressed support for the Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to boycott the T20 World Cup match against India. Speaking on social media platform X, Yousaf described the move as a difficult but necessary decision, emphasizing that national principles should take priority over commercial interests. He highlighted the need to end selective influence in international cricket to ensure the sport remains fair and global, stating, “We play with pride, but we also stand for equality and justice in sport,” underscoring the importance of integrity and fairness in the game. Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Lahore to discuss Pakistan’s participation in the ICC T20 World Cup. Following the discussions, the government approved the national team’s participation in the tournament but decided that Pakistan would not play its scheduled match against India on February 15, 2026, in accordance with government directives. The decision was aimed at balancing Pakistan’s commitment to international cricket with security, scheduling, and diplomatic considerations.
