Pakistan has officially become part of one of the world’s fastest undersea internet networks through the SEA-ME-WE 6 submarine cable system, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital connectivity. This new high-speed link significantly increases Pakistan’s international bandwidth capacity, improving internet speed, reliability, and overall global connectivity.
Federal IT and Telecom Minister Shaza Fatima highlighted that SEA-ME-WE 6 represents Pakistan’s third major international cable connection within a single year, following the successful integration of Africa-1 and 2Africa systems. The addition of these cables positions Pakistan as a more connected hub in the global digital ecosystem, supporting faster data transmission, enhanced online services, and improved access for businesses, educational institutions, and consumers. Experts note that such advancements are crucial for the country’s growing IT sector, e-commerce expansion, and participation in international digital markets.
