Google has confirmed that Snapseed 3.0 will be released for Android, following its debut on iOS devices in June. The confirmation comes after members of the Snapseed team shared on Reddit in late December that development on the Android version began in November, though they cautioned that the update is still a few months away from launch.
The Snapseed 3.0 update marks the most significant overhaul of the popular photo editing app in years. On iPhone and iPad, the release introduced a complete visual redesign along with a new app icon, signaling renewed attention to a product many users believed had been sidelined in favor of Google Photos.
The redesigned Snapseed interface features a dedicated homepage that displays a grid of previously edited photos, making it easier for users to revisit and manage their work. Access to the system image picker is now handled through a circular floating action button, streamlining the workflow. The editor itself is organized into three main sections, allowing users to quickly switch between preset looks, favorite tools, and the full collection of editing options.
Editing controls have also been refined, with adjustments now made using a dial-based controller instead of the traditional slider. The app continues to offer a wide range of professional-grade tools, covering image correction, retouching, transformations, stylistic effects, and creative features such as double exposure, frames, and text overlays.
In addition, the iOS version recently added a built-in Snapseed Camera with retro film-style filters, further expanding its creative capabilities. While some users have expressed disappointment that the redesign did not launch simultaneously on both iOS and Android, Google’s confirmation that Snapseed 3.0 is coming to Android has been welcomed. Many Android users are now hoping the wait will be measured in months rather than stretching into another year.
