Chinese battery manufacturer Svolt Energy has introduced an 80 kWh battery pack, claiming it as the world’s largest-capacity battery for plug-in hybrid vehicles. The new system, named Fortress 2.0, was unveiled during the company’s Battery Day event in Changzhou and is specifically designed for large family cars that require extended electric-only driving range.

Svolt highlighted that the integrated design of Fortress 2.0 improves energy density by 6%, allowing vehicles to travel further on a single charge. The battery also supports ultra-fast charging, capable of reaching 80% capacity in approximately 10 minutes using 6C peak charging rates. The company plans to begin integrating this technology into vehicles built on new platforms starting in late 2026, aiming to enhance the performance and convenience of plug-in hybrid models.
