Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry inaugurated a new ferry terminal at Karachi Port Trust, describing it as a major milestone for tourism and the development of Pakistan’s blue economy. The terminal is set to enhance maritime travel, promote regional trade, and strengthen cross-border connectivity with neighboring countries.

The first ferry service from Karachi to Chabahar, Iran, is scheduled to commence in the third week of January. The ferry can accommodate up to 240 passengers and is expected to complete the journey in 12 to 14 hours, offering a modern and secure mode of transport. Round-trip tickets are priced at Rs. 50,000, reflecting the premium service aimed at ensuring passenger safety, comfort, and sustainability.

Officials said the initiative will not only boost tourism and trade but also support the growth of Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure and the broader blue economy. By linking major ports in Pakistan and Iran, the ferry service is expected to facilitate greater economic cooperation, promote cultural exchange, and provide an alternative transport option for travelers in the region.
