Germany Introduces New Online Visa Application System for Pakistani Citizens

The German Consulate General has announced a major update to its visa application process, moving employment and student visa categories to the Consular Services Portal to improve efficiency and increase visa issuance. This shift is part of Germany’s broader effort to digitize consular services and streamline processing for applicants.

As part of the transition, all existing waiting lists for these visa categories have been closed and will be deleted. Applicants who have already secured appointments under the previous system are advised to attend their scheduled appointments as planned. All new applicants, however, must begin their visa application process exclusively through the Consular Services Portal. Online submissions for the updated system will open on December 12, 2025.

The consulate clarified the application process for different visa types. Students seeking visas can submit their applications via the portal at digital.diplo.de/studium. Those applying for employment, training, jobseeker, or other long-term visa categories should use digital.diplo.de/visa-ewt.

This digital transition is expected to simplify procedures, reduce delays, and provide applicants with a more transparent and efficient platform for managing visa submissions. The move underscores Germany’s commitment to modernizing consular services while accommodating the growing demand for student and employment visas from international applicants.
