King Issues Full Statement Addressing Prince Andrew Controversy

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Prince Andrew will lose his princely title and vacate his residence at Royal Lodge in Windsor, marking one of the most significant royal disciplinary actions in recent history. The announcement follows growing public and media scrutiny over Andrew’s alleged associations with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which have continued to cast a shadow over the British monarchy.

According to the palace, Andrew will now be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, having already relinquished his title of Duke of York and other royal honours earlier this month. The statement cited “serious lapses in judgement” as the reason behind King Charles III’s decision to formally strip his younger brother of all remaining royal privileges. While Andrew continues to deny the allegations against him, palace sources confirmed that he did not oppose the King’s decision.

The official statement from Buckingham Palace explained that Andrew’s lease at Royal Lodge had previously allowed him to remain there legally, but a formal notice has now been issued requiring him to surrender the property. He is expected to move into private accommodation in the near future.

The statement concluded with an expression of solidarity for victims of abuse, emphasizing that “Their Majesties’ thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

The move represents the final stage in Prince Andrew’s gradual removal from public royal life, which began after his controversial friendship with Epstein became widely known. Despite repeatedly denying any wrongdoing, the continuing fallout from the scandal has left his reputation irreparably damaged, prompting the royal family to take decisive action to preserve the institution’s integrity.
