China’s Shangri-La Traders Hotel at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport has made history by becoming the first hotel in the world to introduce a humanoid service robot, XMAN-R1, developed by Shanghai-based Keenon Robotics. The hotel now integrates humanoid and specialized service robots into its daily operations, handling tasks such as guest reception, food and luggage delivery, and cleaning services. At the front desk, XMAN-R1 greets guests with lifelike speech and natural movements, provides information, and even offers small welcome gifts. Supporting the humanoid are Keenon’s specialized robots — W3 for in-room deliveries, S100 for luggage transport, C40 for cleaning, and T10/T3 for restaurant food service. According to Keenon Robotics, XMAN-R1 is designed to be “role-oriented, user-friendly, and safety-first,” utilizing years of operational data from the company’s service robot fleet. This deployment marks a significant leap in the hospitality industry, blending advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, and customer service to create a more seamless and interactive guest experience.
