Qatar and Bahrain have inaugurated a new maritime passenger route connecting Al-Ruwais Port in Qatar with Saadah Marina on Muharraq Island in Bahrain, offering a 50-minute journey between the two Gulf states. This marks the first ferry service of its kind linking the countries and was officially launched at Al-Ruwais Port with the presence of ministers and senior officials from both nations. The service, designed to enhance regional connectivity, accommodates 28–32 passengers per trip and provides a convenient travel option for tourists, business travelers, and residents. Round-trip economy tickets are priced at Qatari Riyal 265 per individual. The ferry route forms part of a broader maritime link initiative between Qatar and Bahrain, aimed at promoting transport cooperation, tourism, and trade exchange while ensuring a safe and comfortable travel experience for passengers. In preparation for the launch, a delegation from Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications visited Al-Ruwais Port to assess passenger facilities and ensure operational readiness in collaboration with Qatari authorities. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, highlighted that the initiative reflects the development vision led by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and directives from Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He emphasized that the ferry route strengthens Gulf cooperation, modernizes the transport system, and lays the groundwork for expanding maritime passenger services across the GCC. Go back |
