The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Central Region has closed a section of the M3 Motorway from Faizpur to Jaranwala because of dense fog, spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed said. The closure is aimed at protecting lives and property, he added.

Ahmed described driving in fog as extremely dangerous and urged people to avoid unnecessary travel. He advised travelers to prefer daytime journeys during the foggy season, noting that the period from 10 am to 6 pm is relatively safer.

The Motorway Police also issued advice for drivers who must travel in fog. Fog regularly forces the closure of motorway sections in Punjab during winter. Earlier this year, five major motorways were closed due to fog, while parts of the M2, M3, and M4 were shut down for the same reason in December 2024.

The closure highlights the ongoing challenge of winter fog in Punjab, which reduces visibility and creates hazardous driving conditions. The Motorway Police have been actively monitoring weather conditions and taking precautionary measures to prevent accidents.

Travelers are advised to check the latest road conditions before embarking on journeys and to follow the guidance issued by the Motorway Police. The NHMP continues to prioritize public safety during the foggy season.
