The government has introduced revised fuel prices, reducing the ex-depot price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.96 per litre and increasing the price of petrol by Rs4.61 per litre. According to a press release by the Petroleum Division, the new rates are effective from September 22, 2026.
With these changes, the price of HSD is now set at Rs422.08 per litre, down from the previous rate of Rs424.04 per litre. Conversely, the ex-depot price of petrol has been raised from Rs389.14 per litre to Rs393.75 per litre.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) made the adjustments based on the petroleum pricing mechanism approved by the federal government. The Petroleum Division cited global developments, including shifts in Platts rates and other premiums and incidentals, as the reason for the revised pricing.
These adjustments will remain effective until Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
In the prior review, the government had reduced the price of petrol by Rs1.65 per litre and the high-speed diesel price by Re0.88 per litre.
Earlier on the same day, international oil prices fell to their lowest in 12 days. Brent crude futures for November hovered around $100.39 a barrel, while the expiring US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) October contract dropped to $95.66 a barrel. The November WTI contract was trading at $92.34 per barrel.
