NADRA Simplifies CNIC Address Change Process With Clear Six-Step Guide
NADRA has outlined a straightforward procedure for citizens to update their residential address on their CNIC, including the required documents and a six-step process at registration centres.

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has published a simple guide for Pakistani citizens who need to update the current or permanent residential address printed on their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). The authority shared the information through an informational video on its official social media channels, explaining both the documentation required and the steps applicants must follow at a NADRA Registration Centre.
According to NADRA, applicants must provide acceptable proof of residence, complete biometric verification, and pay the applicable CNIC modification fee in order to update their address. The authority has identified three types of supporting documents, and citizens may submit any one of them depending on their circumstances.
The accepted documents include the CNIC of a blood relative that shows the address the applicant wishes to register. Alternatively, applicants can present residential property documents proving that the property at the requested address is registered in their name. A utility bill for electricity, gas, or water issued in the applicant's name and displaying the requested address is also accepted.
NADRA has outlined a six-step procedure for changing a residential address at a registration centre. Applicants begin by visiting a nearby NADRA Registration Centre with their existing CNIC and the relevant address verification document, then approach the reception counter to obtain a token for the CNIC modification service.
The process concludes with the collection of the updated identity card once the modification has been completed. NADRA's public guidance is intended to make it easier for citizens to understand the requirements in advance, reducing confusion and repeated visits to registration centres.
For many Pakistanis, an accurate address on the CNIC is important for accessing a range of services, including banking, utilities, and official documentation. The authority's step-by-step explanation aims to make the modification process more transparent and accessible for the public.
