The City Traffic Police in Peshawar has intensified its enforcement efforts, resulting in fines for 3,301 individuals over four specific traffic violations. The crackdown, conducted across various sectors of the city, targeted vehicles with unregistered status, black-tinted windows, unauthorized flashing lights, and fancy number plates.
According to a police press release, the operation was launched on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Zahidullah, with checkpoints set up at key locations. Officials reported that 1,601 people were fined for using black-tinted windows, 203 for installing flashing lights, 1,201 for driving unregistered vehicles, and 296 for displaying fancy number plates.
Beyond imposing fines, the traffic police also removed unauthorized modifications from vehicles, including flashing lights, tinted window films, and fancy number plates. This action is part of a broader effort to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety in the city.
Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Zahidullah emphasized that traffic personnel would continue to enforce the law rigorously and take legal action against violators without discrimination. He urged residents to adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with the police, reiterating that the law applies equally to everyone.
The crackdown reflects the traffic police's commitment to maintaining order on Peshawar's roads and curbing practices that can contribute to unsafe driving conditions or obscure vehicle identification. Such measures are expected to continue as authorities work to improve traffic discipline in the region.
