Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has appointed Muhammad Amir Siddiqi as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), with the appointment taking effect immediately following approval by the company's Board of Directors.

Siddiqi is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with more than 30 years of professional experience spanning financial management, strategic planning, treasury, corporate governance and business transformation. His career includes over two decades in the telecommunications sector, working across Pakistan and international markets, as well as time at professional services firms Ernst & Young (EY) and Deloitte.

He previously served as Group Executive Vice President for Financial Planning & Treasury at PTCL Group from 2013 to 2022, overseeing financial planning, budgeting, funding, treasury and group-level performance management. He later held the role of Head of Strategy & Transformation at PTCL Group, contributing to corporate strategy, growth planning and transformation initiatives. During his tenure, he supported spectrum acquisition and a telecom-sector acquisition in Pakistan, helped facilitate the launch of Wireless Data and Flash Fiber broadband services, led group-wide cost optimization efforts, and spearheaded the integration of PTCL and Ufone's finance functions at the group level. His experience also includes working with Etisalat in the UAE.

Since 2023, Siddiqi has served as CFO of U Microfinance Bank (UBank), where he played a key role in driving financial and operational transformation. His achievements there included securing regulatory approval for a capital injection plan of approximately PKR 15 billion, delivering annualized operating cost savings of roughly PKR 2 billion, and strengthening financial controls, regulatory compliance and recovery capabilities. His broader expertise covers mergers and acquisitions, enterprise risk management, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), financial reporting and board-level governance.

In his new role, Siddiqi will lead PTCL's financial strategy and stewardship, with a focus on strengthening financial performance, optimizing capital allocation, enhancing governance and operational efficiency, and supporting the company's strategic priorities. The company said his deep understanding of PTCL Group, international telecom experience and track record in financial leadership and transformation position him well to support its continued growth, strategic execution and long-term value creation.
