Ufone Shows Strong Network Performance in PTA Survey Across Islamabad and Rawalpindi
A PTA field survey found no call drops or data-session interruptions on Ufone's network across key routes in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, highlighting improvements following the operator's network integration with Telenor Pakistan.

Ufone delivered strong results across key performance indicators in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority's latest Quality of Experience (QoE) and Quality of Service (QoS) survey conducted in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, according to the regulator's field assessment. The survey found no call drops or data-session interruptions on the operator's network along the tested drive-test routes.
The assessment was led by PTA Chairman Major General (Retd.) Hafeez Ur Rehman and involved live testing of mobile network performance, service availability and user experience at major locations across the twin cities. Three dedicated teams carried out field checks simultaneously along designated routes, including New Islamabad International Airport, T-Chowk, Constitution Avenue, Club Road, Murree Road, Rawal Road, the Old Airport area and Srinagar Highway, along with connecting corridors.
During the exercise, Ufone maintained both voice and data connectivity across all surveyed routes. Its VoLTE technology supported high-definition voice quality and fast call setup, while uninterrupted 8K Ultra HD video streaming was used to demonstrate the network's ability to handle bandwidth-intensive services. Intercity calls were also placed to evaluate voice connectivity and continuity.
The results come as Ufone continues integrating its network with that of former Telenor Pakistan, a move expected to expand coverage and improve service quality for the combined subscriber base. The operator's low-band spectrum holdings in the 850 MHz and 900 MHz bands support wider coverage and stronger indoor signal penetration, while the deployment of newly acquired spectrum is expected to add capacity and support higher broadband speeds.
The survey tracked indicators including download speeds, voice call quality, call setup times, data connectivity and service consistency while moving between locations. The exercise is part of PTA's ongoing regulatory monitoring of cellular mobile services, which aims to assess network performance, identify service gaps and encourage improvements in connectivity and quality of service.
Senior PTA officials took part in the field assessment, including Member (Finance) Muhammad Naveed, Member (Compliance and Enforcement) Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Member (Telecom) Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim and Director General (Enforcement) Brigadier (Retd.) Amir Shehzad, alongside representatives of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, mobile network operators and the media.
