13 Afghan Taliban Killed as Pakistan Foils Border Attempt in Gulistan Sector

Pakistan's security forces have reported that at least 13 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed following an attempted border aggression in Gulistan sector, along the Pak-Afghan border, during the night of September 24 to 25. The information was shared by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Friday.

In a post on X, the ministry stated that the claim made by Afghan authorities regarding the destruction of a Pakistani post near Spin Boldak, and assertions of no Afghan casualties, was fake and fabricated. The ministry said heavy action was taken against Taliban posts after thwarting the attempted incursion, resulting in several Taliban injuries in addition to the fatalities.

This incident comes after a series of attempted drone incursions from Afghanistan earlier in the week, to which Pakistan responded with precision air and drone strikes at 10 locations within Afghanistan. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed these operations, reportedly carried out in response to the attacks.

The Information Ministry also released visuals of the incident, which it said provide evidence of the border engagement and subsequent actions against the Taliban. The ministry rejected the Afghan version of events, stating, "The fabricated Afghan Ministry’s attempt is no surprise since the Taliban are habitual liars having no moral and reputational standing."

According to security sources, Pakistani forces intercepted and shot down eight drones that entered from Afghanistan. Four drones were intercepted near the Torkham border and four others in mountainous regions near Kohat.

Separately, the military's public affairs wing (ISPR) reported that 33 alleged Indian-sponsored terrorists have been killed in Balochistan since September 21, as part of continued counter-terrorism operations. These actions, under "Operation Shaban" and other ongoing operations, included the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, with efforts set to continue until all threats are neutralised.
