Pakistan Conducts Strikes on Afghan Sites Following Drone Intrusion

Pakistan launched targeted aerial and drone strikes against ten sites in Afghanistan after recent drone intrusions from across the border, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated early Thursday.

According to Tarar, the strikes were aimed at locations used for storing and launching drones involved in the attempted attacks against Pakistan. He described the strikes as deliberate, precise, and proportionate, targeting only identified military objectives directly linked to the attempted drone attacks.

Security sources explained that Pakistani forces shot down eight drones when they crossed into Pakistani airspace from Afghanistan. Four were intercepted near the Torkham border, while four more were brought down in mountainous regions close to Kohat.

Tarar strongly condemned the drone incursions that took place on 23 September, calling them a clear violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He further expressed that Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns with the Afghan Taliban regime regarding the continued presence and activities of terrorist groups on Afghan soil.

The minister warned that any attacks launched from Afghan territory, whether by militant groups or by the Afghan Taliban itself, would meet an immediate and decisive response from Pakistan. He called on the Afghan Taliban authorities to cease hostile acts and take effective measures against terrorist entities operating from their territory.

Tarar emphasised that while Pakistan remains committed to peace and dialogue, this stance should not be perceived as weakness. He said Pakistan would take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and citizens.
