Engro Fertilizers Raises Urea Price by Rs. 50 Per Bag as Rabi Season Costs Climb

Engro Fertilizers has lifted its urea dealer transfer price to Rs. 4,585 per bag, a Rs. 50 increase that adds to farmers' input costs during the Rabi sowing season.

Engro Fertilizers Limited (PSX: EFERT) has increased its urea price by Rs. 50 per bag, pushing the dealer transfer price (DTP) to Rs. 4,585 per bag, according to market checks reported by JS Research on 6 November 2026.

The finding was shared by Muhammad Waqas Ghani, CFA, of JS Research, who cited channel checks rather than an official company circular. The latest increase takes Engro's urea pricing above the levels recorded after an earlier Rs. 150 per bag hike in March 2026.

Engro has maintained a firm pricing position throughout 2026. In August, management indicated it had no plans to reduce urea prices or reinstate discounts, even with elevated inventory levels, arguing that stronger seasonal demand would clear stocks without eroding its premium over competing brands.

The move comes as farmers already contend with high fertilizer costs this Rabi season. Retail urea prices for major brands are currently clustered between roughly Rs. 4,400 and Rs. 4,750 per 50 kg bag, and a higher Engro DTP typically feeds into dealer and retail quotations within days.

Because urea is a key input for wheat and other Rabi crops, the increase is likely to raise cultivation costs for farmers at a time when input affordability is already a concern. The pricing decision also reflects the company's continued focus on protecting margins rather than pursuing volume-led discounting.

Market observers will be watching whether other fertilizer producers follow Engro's lead. A broader round of price increases could add further pressure to agricultural input costs and, ultimately, to food production economics across the country.
