Iranian President Pezeshkian Discusses Closer Muslim Ties with Pakistan's Naqvi

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran on Monday, stating that actions and pressure from the United States have led to stronger ties and collaboration among Muslim nations. He cited the increasing diplomatic exchanges between Iran and Pakistan as an example of this growing trend, according to Iranian media reports.

During the meeting, President Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction with the progress in relations between Tehran and Islamabad and highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, tourism, investment, culture, and science.

Pezeshkian said that both Iran and Pakistan possess significant human and natural resources, and that joint investments and enhanced communication between their sectors could help both countries meet many of their needs using internal and regional capabilities.

Minister Naqvi echoed these sentiments, describing current Iran-Pakistan relations as reaching unprecedented levels. He affirmed Pakistan's commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties in various fields including trade, economy, politics, tourism, and culture, and updated the Iranian president on ongoing cooperative initiatives.

Earlier in the day, Naqvi also held talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. Both sides reviewed the progress of cooperation between their respective interior ministries. Momeni expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their contributions to regional peace and stability, noting the significance of recent official visits for bilateral cooperation.

Minister Naqvi stated that the relationship between the two countries was poised to become even stronger in the future. The meetings occurred amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, with Pakistan maintaining its role in efforts to reduce regional tensions since the conflict began in February.
