Islamabad Cracks Down on Illegal Sheesha Cafes, Seals More Establishments
Islamabad's district administration has intensified its crackdown on illegal sheesha cafes, sealing more establishments and arresting individuals involved. The move follows a high court ruling and aims to eliminate such cafes from the capital.

Islamabad's district administration has ramped up its efforts against illegal sheesha cafes, sealing additional establishments across the capital. Enforcement teams conducted operations in various areas, including E-11 and Bahria Civic Center, seizing sheesha equipment and arresting individuals running the cafes. The crackdown is part of a daily campaign to enforce the ban on sheesha smoking.
According to officials, the operations are being carried out without discrimination and in accordance with court orders. The administration has vowed to continue the crackdown until the last sheesha cafe in the city is closed. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad directed assistant commissioners to expand the daily operations and take strict action against violators.
The renewed push follows a written ruling by the Islamabad High Court upholding the ban on sheesha cafes. Authorities have been instructed to register criminal cases against cafe owners who refuse to cooperate. This escalation aims to ensure compliance and deter future violations.
In a separate development, British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan revealed that he lost Rs. 2.25 crore in a sheesha cafe project in Islamabad, stating he was scammed. His statement highlights the financial risks associated with such ventures, especially as authorities tighten their grip on illegal activities.
The crackdown on sheesha cafes is part of broader efforts to regulate public health and safety in the capital. Sheesha smoking has been linked to various health hazards, and the government aims to curb its prevalence, particularly among the youth. The administration's persistent actions signal a strong commitment to enforcing the ban.
