Islamabad Traffic Police Announce Red Zone Route Closures From November 3
Key entry and exit points to Islamabad's Red Zone, including Serena Hotel, NADRA Chowk and Express Chowk, will remain closed until further notice, with commuters advised to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have announced that several key entry and exit routes leading to the capital's Red Zone will be temporarily closed starting November 3, 2026, and will remain shut until further notice. The measure is aimed at managing traffic flow around the highly secured administrative area of the city.
According to the advisory, the closures affect three main access points: the route near Serena Hotel, NADRA Chowk and Express Chowk. These locations are among the busiest approaches to the Red Zone, which houses key government buildings and diplomatic offices.
Commuters have been provided with alternative routes to reach the Red Zone. Citizens can enter the area through Ayub Chowk, the Marriott Hotel route and Margalla Road, according to the traffic police. Authorities have urged drivers to plan their journeys in advance and follow the directions of traffic personnel deployed on the ground.
To help avoid delays, the ITP has advised citizens to set aside an additional 20 minutes for their travel. Traffic police personnel are reportedly working to guide commuters through the changed routes and ease congestion during the transition.
For further information, commuters can contact the traffic helpline on 1915. The Islamabad Traffic Police will also share updates through its social media platforms, and citizens can tune in to FM 92.4 for the latest traffic advisories.
The closures are temporary and will be reviewed as the situation develops. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels before setting out, particularly during peak commuting hours when the affected routes typically experience heavy congestion.
