The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced the closure of the road running from Rawal Dam Chowk towards Serena Hotel, effective from November 3, 2026, and lasting until further notice. The shutdown is required to facilitate construction work on the Kashmir Chowk underpass, a major infrastructure project in the federal capital.

According to the diversion plan issued by the ITP, traffic travelling in the opposite direction will remain unaffected. Vehicles moving from Kashmir Chowk towards Rawal Dam Chowk and Faizabad will continue to use the road as usual, allowing one side of the corridor to stay open during the construction period.

The traffic police have urged commuters to adopt alternative routes to avoid delays and congestion. The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) has advised citizens to leave 20 to 25 minutes earlier than their usual departure time to account for the changed traffic flow and possible bottlenecks around the affected stretch.

Traffic officers will be deployed on the roads to guide commuters through the diversions and help manage the movement of vehicles during peak hours. The ITP has also said that further traffic updates will be shared through its FM 92.4 radio channel and the Islamabad Police's official social media pages.

The closure adds to the list of disruptions linked to the Kashmir Chowk underpass project, which is expected to improve traffic flow in the area once completed. Until then, residents and daily commuters using the Rawal Dam Chowk–Serena Hotel route are advised to plan their journeys carefully and stay informed through official ITP channels.
