WhatsApp has announced a set of four new features aimed at enhancing the group chat experience. The updates, which are rolling out to Android and iOS users, are designed to help people manage busy group conversations and find relevant messages more easily.

One of the key additions is Group Status, which allows users to share status updates exclusively with members of a specific group. Unlike regular WhatsApp Status updates that are visible to selected contacts, Group Status updates are only visible to the chosen group's members. Recipients can view, react to, and share their own statuses in response. Similar to standard statuses, these updates automatically disappear after 24 hours. This feature could be handy for sharing photos, announcements, or everyday updates with a specific group without broadcasting them to all contacts.

WhatsApp is also removing the time limit for pinned messages in group chats. Previously, users could pin a message for 24 hours, seven days, or 30 days. With the new update, important messages can be pinned permanently, eliminating the need to re-pin the same message after the time limit expires.

The company is further improving chat history sharing, making it easier for users to share messages with others. Additionally, a new filter for important messages will help users quickly locate key content within busy group conversations.

These features are part of WhatsApp's ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and keep pace with the evolving needs of its user base. The rollout is gradual, so it may take some time before all users receive the updates.
