Ex-SK Hynix worker jailed for leaking chip secrets to Chinese firm
A Seoul court upheld an 18-month sentence for a former employee who passed image-sensor technology to a company in China.
A former SK Hynix employee has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for leaking semiconductor manufacturing know-how to a Chinese firm, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.
The Seoul High Court upheld the lower court's ruling on appeal, finding the individual passed classified details on CMOS image sensors — used in smartphone and laptop cameras — to a Chinese company in 2022.
The employee had previously worked at SK Hynix's operations in China, according to the report.
