Nothing to Launch Its First AI-Native Hardware Device in December, Confirms CEO Carl Pei
Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the company's first AI-native hardware product will arrive in December 2026, describing it as a dedicated device that cannot be replicated as a smartphone app.

Nothing is preparing to release its first AI-native hardware product in December 2026, according to a confirmation from the company's chief executive, Carl Pei. The device will not include a new screen and is said to offer functionality that a smartphone application alone could not deliver.
Pei shared the details in a post on X dated November 4, though he stopped short of disclosing the product's name, technical specifications or exactly what it is designed to do. The update builds on Nothing's earlier stated plan, announced in September 2025, to bring its first AI-native products to market in 2026.
According to Pei, the forthcoming product is a dedicated AI-powered tool rather than another app. He framed it as a piece of hardware built with the same design approach and attention to detail that has come to define Nothing's existing lineup. To accompany the announcement, the company released a teaser image showing part of a dark device with rounded corners and curved edges, though the picture offers too little detail to judge its size, overall design or intended use.
Pei stressed that the product could not have been built as an app, which suggests dedicated hardware is essential to how it works. While the company has not said what the device actually does, his remarks offer some clues about its likely purpose. He pointed to a common shortcoming of AI systems: they often lack access to the important details of a user's daily activities and conversations. As a result, people frequently resort to writing down key ideas or comments during meetings, because their AI assistants cannot automatically capture that information.
The teaser follows a broader push by Nothing into AI-focused products, with the company positioning hardware as central to how artificial intelligence is experienced rather than treating it as a feature layered onto phones and apps. Further details, including what the product is called and how it will be used, are expected closer to launch.
For now, the announcement leaves the core of the product under wraps, and it remains unclear how the device will fit alongside Nothing's existing hardware range. The December 2026 timeframe gives the company a clear window in which to reveal more about its first AI-native offering.
