PTA Expands Mobile Network Quality Surveys to Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar
After completing field inspections in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the PTA is set to assess mobile coverage, call quality and internet performance in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and other major cities.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is broadening its mobile network quality inspections to Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and other major cities, following the completion of a recent assessment of telecom services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The move is part of the regulator's push to measure and improve how mobile networks perform for ordinary consumers.
In the coming days, PTA teams plan to carry out field surveys in Lahore and Karachi to evaluate network coverage, call quality, internet connectivity and overall service performance. The inspections are intended to pinpoint weak spots in the networks and drive improvements in mobile services.
According to PTA officials, the upcoming assessments will include representatives from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications as well as the mobile network operators. The surveys will mirror the method used in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where senior PTA officials personally checked network performance at multiple locations.
The regulator said field monitoring is already taking place across the country. Teams from its regional offices, joined by local administration representatives, are regularly visiting cities and neighbourhoods to identify connectivity problems and gauge the quality of mobile services.
Meanwhile, the PTA is preparing a detailed report on its recent inspections in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The document will cover network performance, service quality, connectivity issues and areas needing improvement before it is submitted to the authority for review and further action.
Looking ahead, the regulator said that following the auction of 5G spectrum it will focus on rolling out fifth-generation mobile services in major cities, alongside upgrades to existing 4G networks. The PTA said its goal is wider coverage, more reliable connectivity and better service quality as operators expand infrastructure and introduce advanced telecom services nationwide.
