Oil marketing companies (OMCs) in Pakistan recorded total fuel sales of 1.48 million tons in October 2026, marking a 10% increase from September's 1.35 million tons, according to data compiled by Arif Habib Limited. However, on a year-over-year basis, sales dipped 1% as lower motor spirit (MS) and high-speed diesel (HSD) volumes offset a sharp rise in furnace oil (FO) sales.

Excluding furnace oil, industry sales fell 5.9% year over year but rose 10.3% month over month. The annual contraction was driven mainly by weaker petrol and diesel demand, with elevated fuel prices continuing to weigh on consumption. For the first four months of FY27, cumulative sales reached 5.59 million tons, up 4% from 5.39 million tons in the same period last year.

Motor spirit sales stood at 0.64 million tons in October, down 2% year over year from 0.66 million tons and 2% lower month over month from 0.65 million tons in September. Cumulative MS sales for 4MFY27 rose 2% to 2.69 million tons. High-speed diesel sales jumped 26% month over month to 0.66 million tons but remained 7% below October 2025 levels. Cumulative HSD sales declined 4% year over year to 2.23 million tons.

Furnace oil sales surged 243% year over year to 0.09 million tons, lifting cumulative FO sales to 0.36 million tons in 4MFY27, a 386% increase from the same period last year. Among individual companies, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) recorded total sales of 0.69 million tons in October, up 9% month over month and 8% year over year, with cumulative sales up 15% to 2.60 million tons.

Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) posted sales of 0.12 million tons, up 6% month over month and broadly flat year over year, while Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited (WAFI) saw total sales rise 22% month over month and 11% year over year to 0.13 million tons. Hascol Petroleum Limited recorded sales of 0.04 million tons, up 5% month over month but down 6% year over year, with cumulative sales falling 10% to 0.15 million tons.

The data indicates a mixed recovery in Pakistan's fuel sector, with furnace oil driving overall gains while petrol and diesel demand remains under pressure from high prices. The month-over-month rebound suggests some easing in consumption patterns, but the year-over-year decline highlights persistent challenges for the industry.
