The Pakistani rupee closed slightly stronger against the US dollar on Wednesday, continuing a long stretch of stability in the interbank market, even as it weakened against several other major currencies.

According to market data, the rupee settled at 276.70 against the dollar, gaining one paisa from the previous close. The currency has now recorded gains against the dollar for 276 consecutive trading days, a run that market observers trace back to late December 2025.

The picture was different against other currencies. The rupee shed Rs. 1.77 against the British pound and Rs. 1.34 against the euro, reflecting the greenback's broader movement in international markets. It also lost 64 paisas against the Australian dollar and 13 paisas against the Canadian dollar.

Against regional currencies, the rupee was unchanged, holding steady against both the UAE dirham and the Saudi riyal. Those two currencies are closely tied to the dollar, so their stability tends to mirror the rupee's performance against the US currency.

The persistent calm against the dollar has been a focal point for businesses and consumers alike, as it helps keep import costs and debt servicing predictable. Movements against the pound and euro matter less for day-to-day trade but are relevant for students, travelers and importers dealing with European markets.

Analysts continue to watch whether the rupee's long run of stability can be sustained amid global currency fluctuations and domestic economic conditions.
