Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed its direct flights between Islamabad and Beijing after a suspension of nearly seven months, restoring an important air link between Pakistan and China. The airline had halted its Beijing operations in April due to rising jet fuel prices, which also led to the suspension of flights to Kuala Lumpur as part of cost-cutting measures.

The first flight on the revived route departed on October 30, and PIA plans to operate one flight every Friday. The airline stated that the service will offer passengers a direct and convenient travel option between the two capitals, with competitive fares and regular operations in the Chinese market.

In addition to resuming the route, PIA has enhanced its cooperation with three major Chinese carriers: Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, and Hainan Airlines. This partnership is expected to expand PIA's connectivity across China. Through the code-share agreement with Air China, PIA passengers can connect to various domestic destinations within China via Beijing, a key aviation hub.

The suspension in April was prompted by repeated increases in jet fuel prices, which the airline said it could not entirely pass on to passengers. Instead, PIA implemented administrative measures to manage expenses. The resumption of the Beijing service marks a step toward restoring normal international operations and improving connectivity for travelers between Pakistan and China.

The revival of the route is likely to facilitate business, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, and reflects PIA's efforts to balance operational costs with service expansion. The airline's partnership with Chinese carriers also signals a strategic move to leverage Beijing's hub status for broader network access.
