US Pressure Driving Closer Iran-Pakistan Ties, Say Leaders

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Monday that actions and pressures from the United States have contributed to the strengthening of ties and engagement among Muslim countries. He made these remarks during a meeting with Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran, referring to the increasing diplomatic exchanges between Iran and Pakistan as an example.

The meeting occurred as Naqvi visited Tehran, where he also met with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. Discussions during these meetings focused on bilateral relations and recent developments in the region, according to reports from Iranian media.

President Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction over the positive direction of relations between Tehran and Islamabad. He called for further enhancement and expansion of cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, tourism, investment, culture, and science. Pezeshkian highlighted the potential resulting from both countries' significant human resources and natural wealth, suggesting that joint efforts could fulfill many of their needs through regional collaboration. He stressed the importance of joint investments and improved communication across various sectors.

Minister Naqvi remarked that relations between Iran and Pakistan were at an unprecedented high. He confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in diverse fields, listing trade, economy, tourism, politics, culture, and science as important areas. Naqvi also updated the Iranian president on ongoing collaboration between the two nations.

Earlier, Naqvi met with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni to review the progress of joint efforts by their ministries. According to an update on X by Pakistan's interior ministry, both officials discussed ongoing cooperation in multiple areas. Minister Momeni expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their roles in promoting peace in the region, noting the positive impact of recent high-level visits. Naqvi added that bilateral relations are expected to strengthen further in the future.
